WVU Keeps NCAA hopes alive
-New York, MSG
The Mountaineers pushed themselves to the top of the bubble list with an 82-59 blowout of the no.9 seeded Providence Friars. The game was really never close as the eighth seeded Mountaineers made sure not to ruin a solid season by losing two straight games. West Virginia now reaches 19 wins on the season and they set up a date with first seeded No.7 Boston College tomorrow afternoon. Pittsnoggle could not miss, he dropped 24 points on 7-13 shooting. He also led the teams in rebounds with 8.

First seed BC stunned on their way to the ACC
-New York, MSG
No. 7 Boston College got a suprise party for their going away celebration in the Big East. It came in the form of Frank Young off the bench in place of Tyrone Sally. Young scored a career high 14 points and his two three-pointers in the final 30 seconds of the half, balooned WVU's lead to 44-22 heading into the lockeroom. BC made it close in the second half but Pittsnoggle and Gansey scored much too often and Joe Herber did a little bit of anything to keep the dream alive for West Virginia as the eighth seeded team in the Big East continues their improbable run. The Mountaineers will get a rematch with a Villonova team that handled Pitt and demolished WVU in the regular season.

'Nova is Ova as WVU Advances to Title Game
-New York, MSG
Almost Heaven....Coach Beileins crew refuses to lose and they have advanced to the Big East Championship game after knocking off the ninth, fourth and first seeded team in the tournaments includng nationally ranked No. 7 BC and nationally ranked No.21 Villanova tonight in New York. Joe Herbers three pointer looked destined to be remembered n Mountaineer lore for every until Villanova responded to tie the game. However Mike Gansey slashing to the hoop while everyone else watched Beileins airball proved to be the key as he picked up the rebound with under 2 seconds and was falled on the way up for a shot. He drained both shots and celebration began. Gansey led the way with 22, none being more important than his final free throws. West Virginia becomes only one of three teams to advance to the finals without having a bye as they make their schools debut in the championship game.
West Virginia will meet third seeded No. 18 Syracuse after they demoralized UCONN later in the night.
