Cigarette Brawl Injures 4
Cigarettes, alcohol and a sword.
Add it all together yesterday and the result was several trips to City Hospital and possible criminal charges.
Officers from city and state police responded to a 2:10 AM fight-in-progress call at 502 West King Street in Martinsburg.
When officers arrived, they found 62-year-old Olin Hess lying on the sidewalk and a 17-year-old juvenile standing in the doorway of the residence with a sword in his hand and lacerations on his neck. After officers secured the scene, Hess told them of two more people inside the home.
Inside, officers found 22-year-old Jimmy Pittsnogle and his mother, 44-year-old Lisa Pittsnogle. He had cuts on his hands and bruises on his face while she had severe lacerations on her arm. All four people were taken to City Hospital for examination.
At the hospital, officers learned that the juvenile and Jimmy Pittsnogle had began drinking together. Police say an argument over cigarettes caused the fight.
In addition to the sword, police recovered a box cutter they believe was used in the brawl.
No charges were filed yesterday, though the investigation is continuing.
