Accused of spitting - PittsburghLIVE.com
An Allegheny County man was charged with aggravated assault after he allegedly spit in the face of a police officer.
Adam J. Panas, 20, of Glenshaw, also is charged by police in Indiana County with criminal trespass, simple assault, terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct, harassment, underage drinking and public drunkenness.
Indiana Borough police said Glenshaw fled from officers who tried to approach him after he was observed at 2:41 a.m. Sunday staggering and falling down on South Sixth Street. Panas, who lost his shoes during the pursuit, was discovered hiding inside an apartment building at 115 S. Sixth St., police said.
Officers said they were taking Panas to Indiana Regional Medical Hospital for treatment of a head laceration and foot injury suffered during the chase when he spit in the eyes and face of a borough police officer. Panas also allegedly threatened to kill the officer.
Panas was arraigned before Homer City District Judge Susanne Steffee and lodged in the Indiana County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bond. He faces a preliminary hearing 1:30 p.m. Feb. 28 before Steffee.
