The Sub.500 Series
Royals 1
Pirates 0

29) Pirates .361
30) Royals .290

The only teams in baseball 20 games below .500 squared off for a classic battle Tuesday night to open up the series I dubbed "3 Reasons to Abolish Interleague Play."

In general, this was a sloppy, sluggish affair, one befitting the two worst teams in Major League Baseball meeting in the most dubious of interleague matchups. There were 17 walks, three errors, three wild pitches, two hit batsmen, one passed ball and -- perhaps the most striking number -- 15,906 who paid to take it all in.

This is the Pirates third six game losing streak of the season, it pushed them to 20 games under .500, their worst position of this still young Major League Baseball season. The Royals are going to give them a solid run for their money especially after winning four of six as they go for their first 3 game winning streak of the season.

Humberto Quota of the Day
Asked about the importance of the series, given each teams' standing, Tracy replied: "I'm not going to go there."

Just picture his face saying that, priceless. What a sad sad situation this is, but there really is nothing to do but laugh.

Kip Wells Season Debut
3.1 IP 6 ER
16.20 ERA

Mark Redman
5 IP 5 ER 5 BB 6 H
And he Won!

Another reason why this series is so bad, is because of too much of a Pirate influence on both sides of the ball. Besides the pathetic battlin buccos, even the Royals have been infused with some of the lack of talent from the succos. Emil Brown, Reggie Sanders, Redman, Duckworth and Matt Stairs.

I am suprised Baseball Tonight has yet to pick up on any of these fascinating storylines, including Joe Randas triumphant return. Anybody associated with this brand of baseball needs to be embarassed.

Does everyone still think Bay deserves to start in the all-star game?
Lets see what he did against the worst team in baseball last night...
0-3 RBI K
He is now batting .297 and has dropped off all the statistical leader boards in the NL. It will truly be a disgrace of stuffing the ballot box gets this fuck up pale pasty waste of a player into the game.

DONT LET BAY PLAY

Log on to mlb.com and vote for ANYBODY, so long as they're not a Pirate.

Ryan Vogelsong performed admirably in his mop up duty allowing 2 runs in one inning to boost his ERA to 6.08. Look out Oliver Perez. Grabow, my vote for worst pitcher in major league baseball, looked stupended in his 2/3 of an inning also givin up 2 runs.

Theres good news though. We get two more games of this. And I can hardly wait for the Gene Collier column describing this mockery.
