World Cup; Pirates Still Suck
Our continuing world cup coverage will begin with a preview of each match and prediction for games being played that day. Today we will get things started with a look at Fridays opening games. But before that, lets pick up where we left off with the miserable buccos.
June 7
-Mile High Club, Coors Field, Denver, Rocky Mountain, Colorado
97 degrees on the field might have been enough heat to penetrate the new Coors Light freshness seal can. What it was able to penetrate was Olly Perez's mind, as the Rockies got to him and posted 9 runs in two innings. However the Pirates managed to score 9 runs in this game too, but it took them 9 innings. And oh yeah the Rockies had no intentions of stopping at 9 as they took 2 of 3 from the succos and the second in as many days with a 16-9 win.
6-6-06
Buccos lost another one run game, proving that they can lose in any situation. They now lead the leage in that category.
June 4
Chris Young, former Pirate prospect, weaves a two hit gem and shuts out the Pirates 1-0 on what was originally scheduled to be Matt Herges bobblehead night. Oh the irony.
Pirates 22-38 14 GB
28. Florida .368
29. Pirates .367
30. Kansas City .250
Pirates 5-24 on the road

Germany -420
vs
Costa Rica +875
Costa Rica is going to be a major long shot in this group and a tie is the best they can hope for, they are the second biggest underdog out of the first eight matches and Germany will be carrying the momentum of their home country.
2-0 Germany

Poland -115
vs
Ecuador +260
Dont change your channel but do change your location, about a few hundred miles north for the night cap of opening day on Friday in Germany for World Cup 2006. This match will decide the group so long as there is no draw. The winner is sure to move on while the loser will depend on an upset against Germany. The best matchup of the first eight games, this truly could go either way.
1-1
A sporting event like no other in the whole world. Bigger than anything you can possible imagine, it is finally here.
Enjoy
