Bowl Season Kicksoff December 19
College Bowl Game Preview:
San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl

December 19
Qualcomm Stadium
8:00 PM
Northern Illinois +12.5
vs
TCU Over/Under 46

The San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl is an early nominee for our all-name team in its second year of existance. The bowl is healthy financially as it is underwritten by the Holiday Bowl who created in. This bowl featured Navy last season and will play host to the Midshipmen for three years in a row starting in 2008 if Navy can become bowl eligible.

TCU (10-2, 6-2)
Mountain West No. 2

Northern Illinois (7-5, 5-3)
MAC No. 4

ESPN is usually stuck with a dud to kick off the college bowl season except when Memphis kept making it and we got to stare at the coaches hot daughter for 20-25 minutes. This game should be one of the better spotlights of the bowl season. ESPN will heavily hype Garrett Wolfe, the NCAA's leading rusher but TCU is a really good football team.
12.5 is looking to be alot of points for teams that are expected to be scoring in the 20's. Wolfe has choked in all his big televised games and TCU is riding a 7-game losing streak and only shows losses to No.20 BYU and at Utah.

Northern Illinois gave MAC Champions Central Michigan their only conference blemish with a three touchdown blowout win. However that is the only quality win anywhere to be found on their resume and they will have their work cut of for them.

The early lean is TCU minus the points, but I will hold off expecting this game to get closer to 10 hopefully because of unwarranted attention to Garrett Wolfe.
