The Tennessee Volunteers have been the most dominant team in all the country this season, embarrassing teams all over the country and running away with the SEC Title. In the opening game of the season, first year head coach out dueled Nebraska's Nick Tolomeo, who was still searching for an offensive scheme. The Volunteers handed the Cornhuskers their first loss of the season and first in a three game losing streak to open the season.
Tolomeo managed to rally the team and bounce back to win 10 games in a row including 3 top ten wins and a win over Texas in the Big XII Championship game.
All three of the Cornhusker losses came to teams in the top 5.
Dave Nist has been named Coach of the Year for his efforts in Knoxville and Deandre "the Knoxville" Hilton has won every defensive accolade in the book including the Heisman Memorial Trophy.
Tennessee appears to be invincible and only suffered two close calls all season. Maryland pushed Nist and his squad to the final 45 seconds and Ole Miss gave them a hell of a game before a fourth quarter collapse.
Nebraska will need to rely on a wishbone offense to pound the ball against the big Tennessee front four. Nebraska has the top defense in the nation but also the worst offense in the nation. Their one-dimensional offense is like nothing ever seen before. The Volunteers rely on a much more balanced attack. Their defensive strong point is sacking the quarterback but that is completely a moot point when the quarterback never drops back.
This is a matchup of the two best and two hottest teams right now. Nebraska has won 10 games in a row and Tennessee has won 13 in a row.
One of those streaks will end tonight while the other team will continue their streak and be crowned champions of the 2007 football season.
