The Mountaineers are trading in their coonskin boots for some dancing shoes, as they learned during selection sunday that they earned a No.7 seed in the Albuquerque region. For their first round game they will head to Cleveland to take on No.10 Creighton. Creighton (23-10) is making its sixth NCAA Tournament appearance in the last seven years, and 15th all-time. The Bluejays qualified for the Big Dance by winning the automatic bid at the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.
The winner will face the winner of the No. 2-seeded Wake Forest and No.15-seeded Tennessee Chattanooga game on Saturday.
West Virginia (21-10) is making its first NCAA appearance since its “Sweet 16” berth in 1998. The Mountaineers made a strong run in the Big East tournament, defeating Providence in the first round before upsetting No. 7 Boston College and No. 19 Villanova on successive days to face No. 16 Syracuse in the finals on Saturday.
Before West Virginia’s 68-59 loss to Orange yesterday, the Mountaineers had won seven of their last eight and nine of their last 11.

The Mountaineers have been waiting 73 years for this game, as they look for revenge on Creighton. West Virginia has played Creighton once in 1932 losing 27-26 in Morgantown.
