In an incredible ending that only an insomniac gambler would appreciate (the game ended up midnight local time) Navy did the unthinkable in one play.
Navy coming into the following situation wielding a run first, run second offense was like a person wielding a machete in a gun fight.
With under two minutes in the game and one touchdown away from covering both the point spread and the over under and not having completed a pass over 50 yards all season Kaipo-Noa Kaheaku-Enhada completed a 58 yard touchdown pass to Zebrin Singleton to send bettors of Navy+8 and the over into a frenzy.

An early Christmas miracle as it helps me out of the gate at 2-0.
Announcers Grade
Rece Davis was solid as always but Mark May and Lou Holtz's flirting reaching new heights with the incredibly non humorous linemen vs skill player debate and the Notre Dame bashing and the Pitt praising. It's bowl season and that act has worn insanely thin.

The Bowl Heisman
This year I will crown a bowl Heisman based soley on a performance during bowl season. I will keep adding candidates until I have 7 deserving and I will rank them each week until there is a final seven. They will make the prestigious all npoc bowl team and one will be chosen as the Bowl Heisman and all the glory that comes with it.
1)Eric Kettani Navy Fullback
In a losing effort this Midshipmen pounded the ball up the middle 12 times for 125 yards including a 43 yard touchdown. He established the inside game and sold the fake every time opening the triple option up on the outside.
2) Brian Johnson Utah Quarterback
The Navy defense is awful but 20-for-25 is still impressive with one touchdown passing and one running and he was able to bounce back from his early mistake on the touchdown to lead his team to the win also carrying the ball 10 times for 70 yards, 6 short of leading his team in rushing.
3) Joe Dale Utah Safety
Dale had a team high 12 tackles and put ended all the Navy momentum by grabbing the game clinching interception.
4) Reggie Campbell Navy Wingback
He had a chance at the end of the game to cement himself as a serious contender for the final 7 but he slipped and fell on his route and the pass was intercepted. Nevertheless he carried 7 times for 58 yards had a 29-yard reception and had five kick returns for a total of 117 yards (23.4 a return).
Channeling Other Options
-The Pitt/Duke game was a pleasant suprise and music to my ears to hear something besides Marshall/Deion and Bryant God Awful Gumble Machine.
-The opening of bowl season was missed by most of america to watch the OT game in MSG but ESPN finally decided to pre empt some boxing fight circa 1920 (I'm not exagerating) and put the game on ESPNClassic.
-The Penguins won in a shootout althought I had to be informed by the bottom line.

Ranking the game
The first quarter was a dud but after that Navy took a lead and Utah rallied and then the teams switched roles and anytime a recovered onside kick is in the mix, it makes for a good ending.
8.5
With this being the first game on the docket, naturally I will rank it as number 1 but it is a deserving #1
1) Poinsettia Bowl Utah over Navy
......
